Officiating Introduction

• Described by some as the “Best seat in the house”, being an official is an opportunity to be involved in the game, whilst ensuring it is played in accordance with the Laws of the game.
• The game is growing faster than ever, and the ECB are focused on ensuring there are officials that represent everybody who plays cricket across England and Wales.
• As an official, you can get involved as an Umpire or as a Scorer. Umpires help to ensure the game is played fairly in the Spirit of Cricket, as well as making key decisions on events that take place. A Scorer has a key role working with the umpires to ensure the game is recorded accurately.

• Umpire Online Learning
  If you’re interested in finding out more about what it takes to become an umpire, have a go at our online learning module. It should take around 45-60 minutes in total to complete and it’ll save your progress as you go so don’t worry if you can’t complete it all in one. • Formal Umpire Training Courses
  The first step onto the ECB umpiring pathway is to attend the ECB Umpires Course.
